Army to stand full expense for rank’s burial
The Guyana Defence Force will be standing the full expense for the burial of Private Tiffany December.
The solider lost her life in an accident last Friday morning. Her mother Christen Francis told this newspaper that her daughter would be buried on Thursday and the welfare department of the GDF would stand the full cost of the burial.
The woman said that she is finding it very hard to come to grips with the fact that her eldest child is dead.
Private December, 18, of Lot 7 Yarrow Dam, succumbed to massive head injuries after the vehicle in which she was travelling slammed into a concrete wall.
The driver of the vehicle, Kwame Ferrier, 30, of 282 West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme sustained injuries to the chest, left hand and legs. Ferrier underwent emergency surgery.
Relatives of Ferrier had told this newspaper that he had told them he saw a high beamed light which blinded his vision, and the vehicle slammed into a concrete wall.
