Pioneer Construction last Wednesday handed over to the Linden Amateur Basketball Association $200,000 for the top teams in the LABA’S 2008/9 First Division League championship, at the Mackenzie Sports Club Lounge.

General Manager of Pioneer Construction Company Mr. Seon McGregor handed over the cash incentives to new champions Victory Valley Royals, runner-up Wismar Pistons and third placed club Amelia’s Ward Jets.
Secretary of the Victory Valley Royals Ms Beverly McDonald received the top prize of $100,000 from Mr. McGregor, while team captain of Wismar Pistons Nevin Grenville collected the $60,000 for his team’s second placing, while Secretary of Amelia’s Ward Jets Mr. Swain Ross was the recipient of the $40,000 which his team earned for gaining the third spot in the seven team championship.
The association was also able to get former national captain James Brusche to consent, and donate the first place trophy and replicas for this important championship.
The league championship which began in November last year was completed in July.
