Dear Editor,
Kindly permit me to share some random thoughts as I reflect on my dear land of Guyana. I feel the heat. The parched earth cracks. I see clouds gathering, and I pray: Lord, send the rain!
I listened to the President’s response on the news recently when he was asked about Kwame McKoy’s alleged involvement with a minor (male). He said that he had not heard the tape and did not think that a person should be judged from a recording that could have been tampered with (and I am paraphrasing).
To strengthen his point he referred to and reminded media houses of the episode in which the voice purportedly of former Commissioner of police, Winston Felix was broadcast, and questions re-authenticity and the need for verification were raised. I was amazed and appalled that one would be focusing on the debates regarding whose voice was on that tape rather than being horrified and outraged that the entire security system was being compromised by someone who, no doubt by illegal means, got access to the Commissioners office and infiltrated his communication system! What a breach of National security!
Once again, I hear no tone of disgust at the possibility that a minor (or minors) could be molested by their ‘protectors’.
Heaven help us! And my heart cries “Lord we need your rain!”(Literally and figuratively)
We need water for our dry and thirsty land and we need your rain of righteousness, truth and justice on hardened hearts and seared consciences!
Finally, Lord send the rain, and wash away everything that seeks to exalt itself before the True and Living God! Send your rain, Lord!
