–letter undelivered, Henry finally submits report
By Edison Jefford
Orlando Glasgow has a suspension letter pending that will bench the Royals player for an indefinite period while the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) Disciplinary Committee commence a penal investigation.
The Committee will finally be able to deliberate on an incident that occurred on Friday August 21 at the Mackenzie Sports Club court where Glasgow intentionally punched the opposing Pistons’, Quincy Jones to his left jaw.
Kaieteur Sport understands that the LABA is now in possession of the incident report that was late in coming from International Basketball Federation’s (FIBA) accredited referee, Sherwin Henry, who officiated in the hostile game.
Henry had told this newspaper last week that he is to submit the report but Monday when an inquiry was made as to whether or not the LABA was in possession of the document, an officer informed that they had not received it yet.
That was according to the knowledge of that official but whether it was in the possession of another LABA Executive is still to be determined. However, it was confirmed that the sub-association now has Henry’s long-awaited report.
Additionally, the suspension letter for Glasgow was not delivered to the basketball player when Kaieteur Sport inquired Monday. The letter was still with the LABA and the excuse was that the association could not find the player.
Glasgow was suspended but has not received a letter while the Disciplinary Committee is now in possession of the referees’ report and can legitimately commence the hearing for a possible penalty for the Victory Valley Royal.
The time on the game clock when the incident occurred read 4:33 in the final quarter and Pistons were leading 47-36 when Glasgow took matters into his own hands following an extensive break to sort out another dispute.
The Royals’ player delivered an intentional right hook to Jones jaw in a grossly offensive manner. Jones’ justice is at stake and already there are lapses that are further unpleasant because Jones’ reaction was steeped in sportsmanship.
Glasgow was hit with a technical foul along with Dwight Cooper from Pistons but fans at the sports club thought that the punishment was a slap on the wrist for an offence that can be considered physical assault in a court of law.
