In an effort to develop the game and the level of camaraderie between the Associations, Lethem is currently hosting two clubs teams from Bartica in a Goodwill series that kicked off on Wednesday at the Lethem ground.
In the lone game that was played, Bartica Beacon brushed aside Gladiators of Lethem 3-1, thanks to a hat-trick from Dwayne Duke who banged the nets in the 25th, 32nd and 78th minute. Gladiators got their consolation goal in the 28th minute off the boot of Ken Grant. Two games were scheduled for the opening day of action but there was controversy surrounding the eligibility of two players from Tabatinga which resulted in the club pulling out at the last moment.
This move by the club prompted the Lethem Football Association to pull in Snatchers FC who were scheduled to take on Beacons yesterday when the competition continued. Milballers engaged Gladiators in the other game.
