We need to look at ourselves as one
Dear Editor,
Having read so many letters which can be seen as politically motivated, I am pressed to express my frustrated feelings towards many of these letter writers.
For too long some of these writers have been taking many of us Guyanese for a long ride down the most destructive path; the “pit of abyss”, which I am sorry to say many found themselves heading towards.
While it is hard for us and people in general to forget about the past misdeeds, injustices and discriminations, there must be a time for reconciliation and move forward.
Having said such many of these writes need to be ban from all media (printed or electronic). Who are needed in this society of ours are constructive analysts, who without any political affiliation view issues in the most positive and even negative way with the interest of the citizen in mind.
We ought to get rid of all the Prims, the Mervins, the Da Silvas, the Kissoons, the Tacumas, the Hinds, the Luncheons and many of our politicians.
They all desecrate our beautiful land with their racial, political, ideologies and philosophies. And while they enjoyed so many benefits the mass population of Guyanese continues to suffer the consequences of their erratic, selfish and conniving actions.
This brings the other issue with which our country now faces, that is the issue of the Barbados Immigration. Why blame the government of Barbados?
We can ramp and rage over this issue, each country must protect its citizen and its sovereignty. Each country has its own Rules and Regulations and of such it is the obligation for visitors to abide by them.
Ours is plagued with so much lawlessness, domestic violence and so may injustices. We have only ourselves to blame.
The question begged to be answered, how can Guyanese expect to be treated with dignity and pride by strangers when they are mistreated by their own at home? Think again.
For too long and not just 17 years ago but beyond many were unjustly treated, the judicial system failed many, people were actually ran out of this country and sad to say this will continue to happen.
While significant progress has been made towards the economy of this country much is need and so much can be done. Get rid of many of the obstacles…politicians and their cronies.
Unless, we see ourselves as One People, One Nation, One Destiny, One Guyana and not Indian, African, Chinese, Amerindian, Portuguese, Europeans, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, we will continue to be mistreated where ever we go. While others may have a free ride of justice, and a great welcome, others suffer the opposite.
Its time we look at ourselves differently; as Guyanese.
God Bless this Great Land of Ours; Guyana the Free; Beautiful Guyana; Land of Bauxite, Gold, Silver, Diamond, Rice, Sugar, Rivers and Mighty Plains.
