Guyanese have themselves to blame

Barbados has every right to reject all individuals who do not meet its criteria for remaining on the island.
As far as Guyanese are concerned successive governments of this country have so mismanaged our abundant resources that the exodus will continue and Guyanese who voted overwhelmingly for the duopoly have only themselves to blame for the deterioration in their well-being and the desecration of all our institutions by allowing under-achievers to govern them with an Executive President, who runs around the world with a begging bowl.
Properly managed, Guyana should have been a country to which foreigners would have been seeking admission and strict criteria would have been established for entry. With individuals who could not even manage a village council in power including those in waiting we will see for generations to come a continuing exodus and degradation.
I have in previous communications indicated that CARICOM is a failure and will continue to be so. Our destiny does not lie with the islands in the Caribbean but with our neighbours to the West and South.
Guyanese might not be aware that a Barbadian by the name of Simpson owns SOL (Simpson Oil Limited) which has bought over Shell and Esso.
Our government should establish a Barbados bench at the airport for Barbadians arriving here and offer them reciprocal treatment on arrival. Additionally, Guyanese must stop purchasing any exports from Barbados and Guyanese in the Diaspora should sensitise individuals in North America and Europe to the fact that Barbados discriminates against people of colour.
These little steps might well remind Barbados that during the colonial era when British Guiana was properly run, Barbadians and small islanders took refuge here. While the Barbadian government would not ever respect our administration, Barbadians might start to treat Guyanese with less disdain.
This should not be the end. It should not be the beginning of the end but it will be the end of the beginning.
