A Plaisance, East Coast Demerara man was gunned down last night outside his girlfriend’s house.
Marlon Britton, said to be in his thirties, was shot in the head and jaw, in Prince William Street, Plaisance, and succumbed a little more than two hours later at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), at around 00:20 hrs today.
According to reports, Britton had visited his girlfriend home earlier in the night.
Sources said he decided to leave shortly after 22:00 hrs.
He came down the stairs and was preparing to depart on his bicycle when a man, who was standing under the house, called out to him.
When Britton turned, the man pointed a gun at the victim and shot him in the head and jaw. There are reports that the shooter snatched a gold chain from the victim’s neck before fleeing.
Britton was rushed by car to the Georgetown Hospital Public Corporation in critical condition, where medical personnel fought valiantly to save him.
