Dear Editor,
After following the newscasts on the CLICO catastrophe and commentary from the Head of State and the Commissioner of Insurance with some assurances that one must not worry and jobs are not threatened, I really thought that the insurance company would have been able to bounce back on it’s feet.
From media reports, it doesn’t seem so anymore because it was reported that staff members were sent packing and sales agents asked to vacate the premises in use. It now leaves me to believe that CLICO”s obituary should be in the making.
It is also my opinion that management was not totally honest with the government from day one and in saying that, all management employees should be barred from leaving the country and their passports be taken into custody until the end of the investigations.
Friendships between government officials and management should be put aside and the main focus should be for policyholders to recover whatever is available with their investment for rainy days and health issues.
Best wishes to the policyholders. T. Pemberton
