Dear Editor,
Traversing the Essequibo River in the past is the only opportunity I was allowed to have a first hand look from the river of the impressive “Shanklands Resort” and I was struck in my boots to learn via a Kaieteur News report dated 3.17.2009 that it is the end of a dream with it’s closure.
I take this moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Joanne Jardim and members of her staff over the years for their contribution towards the tourism sector. I could be wrong but it might also be painful for the owner after so many years of dedication and commitment to see a dream cut short, but hey you did your part for the soil of Guyana and don’t for a moment have any regrets.
You set the trend and trust me, there are persons who will forever remember your efforts and might even try harder with their own bits and pieces with their respective efforts.
I encourage those persons to see Mrs. Joanne Jardim as an inspiration with their quest and hopefully someday we will be on par with Bahamas with global recognition. Mrs. Joanne Jardim, I doubt that we might ever cross path, but continue to be proud of yourself for your sterling and un-forgettable contribution you made over the years.
T. Pemberton
