Republic Bank yesterday launched its Blue Machine, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) services at the arrival lounge of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri.
Speaking at the ribbon cutting ceremony that declared the ATM services open, Managing Director of Republic Bank, Edwin H. Gooding said that he was pleased to launch the initiative.
He emphasized that bringing an ATM service to the airport was ‘long in coming.’
“With the introduction of this facility, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited will be the only bank to bring this much needed service to our international airport,” said Gooding. “Now, any of our cardholders visiting the Cheddi Jagan International Airport or within the Timehri/Soesdyke area will enjoy the convenience of being able to withdraw or transfer funds from their account or enquire regarding their account balance.”
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the CJIA, Ramesh Ghir cut the blue ribbon that marked the official opening of the ATM service at the airport.
Gooding added that in the near future, other international card users would be able to use the ATM, since there were already “imminent plans to expand and upgrade our Electronic banking capabilities.”
Gooding took the opportunity to also highlight the opening of a new ATM at Bosai Minerals Group (Guyana) Incorporated, McKenzie, Linden. This facility was opened on February 13, 2009. He said that reports had reached him that the new ATM had already afforded much convenience to Bosai employees and Lindeners generally.
