Dear Editor,
There is a saying that you can fool some of the people some of the time but not all the people all the time. This saying is relevant to John Da Silva’s letter “Guyana is no state of decay” (KN 13/2/2009).
While in opposition the PPP complained that the PNC government sold out Cambior by giving OMAI 5 percent royalty on the gold mine. When the PPP became the government they reduced the 5 percent royalty to 2.5 percent.
The PPP condemned the PNC for the Barama deal and when the PPP became the government it gave Barama more land than the PNC did. Under the PPP now Barama owns one-tenth of Guyana and many of us cannot get a house lot or land title.
President Jagdeo talks about forest and environmental protection. He travels the world and talks about his ideas of environmental protection when his government is destroying the forest and environment at home.
Earth Google will reveal information on the damage done to the forest and environment under President Jagdeo.
The PPP talked about being a government that would be lean, clean and mean and employ dollar a year ministers. The PPP broke its promises.
The ministers are paid super-salaries and the ministries are more than in the PNC time. Ministers have big houses and drive fancy vehicles never seen under the PNC. Corruption and bad behaviour is greater under the PPP.
PPP officials are known for rum-shops brawls, pulling guns, threatening people, domestic abuses and other disorderly types of conduct. Tamlyn Rodriques
