Queen’s College and Berbice High School clash today at Stadium
The National Sports Commission in collaboration with the Allied Arts Department of the Ministry of Education will be hosting a 40-overs a side cricket match from 10:00hrs today at the Guyana National Stadium.
This game is in observance of our 39th Republic Anniversary and is part of the work of the Joint Committee on Reintroducing Physical Education and Sport in Schools. The Joint Committee on Reintroducing Physical Education and Sport in School was established due to earnest collaboration between the Ministries of Education and Culture, Youth and Sport and numerous cooperative discussions between the Ministers with these portfolios, Hon. Minister Sheik Baksh and Hon. Minister Frank Anthony respectively.
Queen’s College, well known for academic achievements, will be fielding a fairly strong team led by Neil Barry Jr., while Berbice High School, led by Tregon Henry, promise to be up to the challenge and desirous to show their strength to the city folk.
The match is scheduled to get underway following an address by the Hon Minister Frank Anthony and other officials of the Ministries of Culture, Youth and Sport and Education as well as representative from the schools.
The teams are: Queen’s College: Neil Barry Jr.(captain), Sunil Rupee, Tejprakash Persaud, Javed Rasheed, Carlyle Collins, Feaz Mustapha, Avion Rodrigues, Jimol Marks, Larry Carryl, Jeremy Singh, Steven Rutherford, Dwayne Edwards, Khemraj Rupee, Tuan Thierens and Kareem Critchlow.
Berbice High School: Tregon Henry (captain), Kareem Hinds, Brian Hussain, Hardat Singh, Kirk Jhethoo, Brandon Balkumar, Joylon Campbell, Udesh Imrit, Kevon Jawahir, Derwin Clarke, Horshelle Gillad, Akeem Trellis, Cledwin Cort, Judason Bess and Kumar Brijlall.
