Ariel Sahoye, a three-year-old girl, met an unexpected demise when the bus that usually drops her home from school every afternoon struck her down and killed her on the spot.
Kaieteur News understands that, at approximately 12:25 hrs yesterday, the toddler, of Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, was being taken home from school in a minibus that usually transports school children. On arrival at her residence, the child was put off from the vehicle and the driver then drove off, apparently not realizing that the child was crossing the road in front of the vehicle.
The driver of the minibus is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
Meanwhile, the police are also investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 02:25 hrs yesterday at Maria’s Lodge Public Road, Essequibo Coast, resulting in the death of Abdool Zainool, 46, of Middlesex, Essequibo Coast.
Investigations have so far revealed that Abdool Zainool was driving his motor car, HB 5037, along the roadway and motor pick-up GLL 4229 was proceeding in the opposite direction when the two vehicles collided.
The driver of the motor pick-up alleges that the motor car strayed into his lane, resulting in a collision.
Abdool Zainool died on the spot, while passenger Mohamed Zaman, 36, of Vilvoorden, Essequibo Coast, was admitted to the Suddie Hospital with a broken right foot.
The driver of the motor pick-up is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
