Treasurer of the BCBC Anil Beharry in remarks at the ceremony pointed out that Evans is an institution in Berbice cricket, recognizing that 35 years of unselfish service is a long time to serve. He praised Evans for staying the course when others have quit and left for greener pastures.

In 2008 the board has honoured several long time cricket officials under its Tribute to Heroes Programme, fourteen committed club officials under its Tribute to cricket workers programme, while six former Berbice Test Players were inducted into the historic Hall of Fame.
Test player Sewnarine Chattergoon was also honoured along with four umpires as the BCBC focused on ensuring that performance on an off the field were rewarded.
Meanwhile, the board via its Special Events Committee (SEC) also handed over $140,000 worth of cricket gear to the Police, Whim and the Chesney Cricket Clubs.
The donation consisted of bats and pads and will assist the clubs in their youth development programmes.
In handing over the gear, chairman of the SEC Hilbert Foster stated that cricket clubs in the county received unprecedented assistance during the year from the BCBC and the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club as they collectively worked to assist them in their development from the youth level.
