Dear Editor,
I live on the East Coast of Demerara. During the month of October there was an average of over 30 hours of blackout in the area I live in.
My expectations were high to receive a bill minus the 30 plus hours of no power coming through my home and as such no activity on my meter, to be reflected on my bill.
I was shocked when I opened the bill for that period, which would have catered for the period of the 30 hours of blackout to see my meter record 124 units which is equivalent to $7,034.00. This is unbelievable; the bill for that period should have been under $3,000.00
This is just another example to show how the power company is ripping off hard working citizens of their hard earnings. A. Kissoon
