The Demerara Lioness Club yesterday held its annual Senior Citizens Care Day at the Botanical Gardens.
According to the president, Mrs. Erena Persaud, the group has being doing this since 1989. She explained that the club members usually receive funding from the public, and this is just another way of giving back to society.
She said that the senior citizens received a hamper as well as beverages and other refreshments.
They were also entertained by a steelband.
She said that they usually cater for just over 100 senior citizens from across the region. Yesterday, there were 120 senior citizens present.
