Dear Editor,
It’s with great relief that I heard the gas prices will be dropping, and that is going to pave the way for the minibuses to drop fares that they have drastically increased.
While some of the minibus operators have reduced the fares, some have been reluctant to decrease, because they have gotten accustomed to the bigger increase in their wages that they are earning, and also the earlier time they are going home, because of the increase.
Passengers have caused this to happen, because although the fares are to be dropped, they are still paying $80 for short drops, instead of the $60.
The operators believe that the $20 would not really make any difference to the passengers, so they are charging $80.
Now that the ministry and the minibus associations have instructed that the fares are to be dropped, will there be any charges for those who are overcharging and demanding extra fare? Commuter
