After hosting two successful ‘Day of Interaction’ activities, the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports has planned a similar occasion, this time at the Diamond Community Centre Ground, East Bank Demerara, under the theme, Sport for Healthy Lifestyle, Education and Peace.”
Over 400 athletes and officials are expected to participate in volleyball, table tennis, softball cricket, football, circle tennis and dominoes among other disciplines. Organizers are also anticipating a large turnout from among residents on the East Bank Demerara.
Once again, as in other Interaction Day activities, the Chinese table tennis coach attached to the Sports Ministry will conduct a special coaching clinic for interested persons.
The coach will be focusing primarily on school children.
Ministers, political leaders, and regional representatives along with other top Government officials will also attend the function. A special AIDS awareness programme will also form a part of the day’s activities.
The grand opening ceremony will include a march past of athletes and officials while Minister of Culture Youth and Sports Dr Frank Anthony, Minister of Health, Dr Leslie Ramsammy and other political leaders will deliver brief remarks. Activities get underway from 09:00hrs.
