Linden, G/town senior clash to bring curtains down
It is called the showpiece of the Annual Nestle Supligen All Star Basketball Extravaganza, the most eagerly anticipated showdown between Linden and Georgetown, which is the senior clash among two bitter rivals and the date set is tonight, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Whenever these two teams engage each other, the rivalry is intense, but more importantly fans get the opportunity to witness some of the country’s most talented players exhibit their skills in a battle for basketball supremacy.
Linden must start as favourites owing to their more vibrant programme back home in the bauxite community, while G/town though slightly handicapped by a lack of activity usually thrives on adversity and counting them out at such an early stage could prove perilous for those bent on placing wagers.
Then with home court advantage and an anticipated large turnout expected to be dominated by partisan supporters, it could be the right mix to engineer a win, but Linden has been known to come into opponents’ backyard and do severe damage.
Apart from the feature game, the juniors will contest the 3-point shootout and dunk-out competition, while special artistes are scheduled to appear at the half.
