Neal and Massy put a halt to Banks DIH recent cricket success with a 40-run win in a high scoring 20-over Tapeball cricket match last Friday evening at Thirst Park.
Led by an entertaining unbeaten century (105) from Leroy Primo and a half century from captain Harold Baboolall Neal and Massy posted a challenging 248 for 3 of their allotted overs after they were sent in to bat by their opponents.
Primo, who was later named Man-of-the-Match, posted 111 runs with Ashraf Ali for the first wicket before Ali fell for a quick-fire 42 as Neal and Massy opening pair took Banks DIH bowling to task on an easy paced wicket.
Baboolall joined Primo and the two players compiled 132 runs for the second wicket with Baboolall striking an aggressive 69 in his knock. Otis George was the pick of Banks DIH bowlers with 2-62 after he was severely punished in his first spell.
Banks DIH in reply lost earlier wickets as they set out to reach the victory target of 249 against consistent bowling from their opponents.
The home side were reeling at 43 for 4 before captain Owen Grannum came to the crease and almost changed the course of the match with powerful shots, but when he finally was dismissed for a pugnacious 76 the writing was on the wall for the Brewery giants.
Grannum received valuable support from Jermaine Martin who made 29 and Vivian Bell who contributed 23 as Banks finished on 208 for 9 off their 20 overs.
Bowling for Neal and Massy, Baboolall returned with the ball to capture 3 for 34 while Balchand Shivambar claimed 3 for 42.
The Banks DIH team had gone unbeaten in four matches in the weekly Tapeball series at Thirst Park.
The trophies donated by Neal and Massy Group, were presented to the successful team and Man-of-the-Match by their Human Resources officer Fay Bispham and Banks DIH Executive Trevor Nero.
