Ramchand Dipchand, 30, of 95 Railway Embankment, Success, is critical at the Georgetown Public Hospital, in the Intensive Care Unit.
The man was struck down by a minibus almost a week ago on the East Coast Demerara Public Road as he was attempting to cross the thoroughfare.
According to the man’s sister, Jaiwanti Dipchand, her brother had left her home at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, at about 18:00hrs on October 10, to go home to Success on the East Coast.
She added that after her brother did not reach home, family members became worried. The woman said that the family was desperately trying to locate Dipchand, adding that they went to different funeral homes in an effort to locate him.
The woman said that yesterday they went to a television station to place a missing person’s advertisement when the people asked if the family had checked the hospital.
The family immediately rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, checking all the wards, and they subsequently confirmed that he was unconscious.
The man suffered head injuries and broken limbs. Up to press time the police were still trying to ascertain the identity of the driver of the vehicle.
