– President Jagdeo
Acting Commissioner of Police, Henry Greene, will be appointed before Christmas as well as a new Minister of Housing and Water.
President Bharrat Jagdeo said on Wednesday that he will be meeting with Opposition Leader, Robert Corbin, soon to formalise the Commissioner’s appointment.

The President had named Greene as his choice for Commissioner without any disagreement by the Opposition Leader. On Wednesday, the Head of State said that he had therefore considered the consultations completed.
However, the Opposition Leader said that the President will have to meet with him again for meaningful consultation before any such appointment.
Greene has been the acting Commissioner of Police for the past three years on the retirement of Commissioner Winston Felix, and is scheduled to retire next year.
Meanwhile, Kaieteur News was told some weeks ago that Irfan Ally has been identified as the most eligible candidate for Minister of Housing and Water.
Last month, President Jagdeo announced that Minister of Housing and Water, Harrinarine Nawbatt, has been appointed Guyana’s Ambassador to Brazil.
