Donates 3 cycles and helmets By Franklin Wilson
As the saying goes, here is it, is always better than where is it, the former can be likened to Insurance Giants Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Company who has recognized their role in the tangible development of young budding cyclists.
Yesterday, after their Sixth Annual 11-race programme at the National Park, the company presented three BMX cycles along with helmets to three young and promising riders.
This is the second consecutive year that they have done this.
Those receiving were Raymond Perez and the Mc Lean brothers, Rawle and Kareem.
According to National Cycling Coach Hassan Mohamed who was responsible for identifying the beneficiaries, Perez was selected because of his discipline and consistent exceptional performances.
Perez has been very dominant in the 6-9 age group at the National Park and has even moved up to take on his bigger colleagues, exhibiting that he has a big heart and in a few years time, will be a force to reckon with.
The Mc Lean brothers have also been competing consistently at the Park and Coach Mohamed said he saw that they were in need and decided that it was their time to profit from the generosity of Hand-in-Hand.
Sales Manager Colin Welcome who was on hand to present the cycles said the insurance company was happy to be again fulfilling its corporate responsibility of assisting the development of Guyana’s youth.
“We believe that it is our civic duty to aid in this regard, especially where our young people are concerned and we are very excited once again to be making such a contribution to them.”
Welcome said that he is confident the donation will go a far way in developing the skills and ability to excel.
