DEAR EDITOR,
I agree with Mark Benschop and Lincoln Lewis that the Guyana Police Force is not to be trusted.
My life was also threatened by a known individual, and I told the police by letter after fleeing Guyana, but no arrest or interrogation of this individual has been made.
I had to publicize my plight on the Internet with such sites as Propagandapress.com etc. I wrote letters to the Minister of Home Affairs and the Commissioner of Police, and never even received an acknowledgement.
With all the bad things some people are saying about President Jagdeo, at least he is the only one who had the courtesy to acknowledge my letter.
If the Guyana Police cannot arrest and charge this known criminal, I will have to expose this individual and those who are giving him support to overseas law enforcement agencies, the international press and international organisations.
In Mark Benschop and Lincoln Lewis’s case, they do not know who want to assassinate them; but in my case, the individual is positively identified. A murder threat is very serious, and the police should not take it lightly.
By not pursuing my complaints or allegations, one may be led to believe that the police have been bought, or they are in collusion with this criminal. If the law enforcement agencies are co-operating with criminals, what justice can you expect in the country? Balwant Persaud
