Guyanese need a special presidential candidate
DEAR EDITOR,
I would like to comment on Mr. Lloyd A. King’s letter in Sunday 2008.05.03, in Kaieteur News captioned, “Open Letter to PPP Congress Delegates.” I am in agreement with all the remarks made about Moses Nagamootoo but I cannot stand all those derogatory remarks made against Mr. Donald Ramotar.
Donald Ramotar is a political giant; he is nothing less than Moses Nagamootoo. Both Donald and Moses wrote speeches for Dr. Cheddi Jagan.
Both Donald and Moses are political knights who sat around Dr. Cheddi Jagan’s round table, along with other PPP Stalwarts, whose names I will not mention.
Donald Ramotar helped Dr. Cheddi Jagan hold the PPP together.
After Dr. Cheddi Jagan left this material world it was Donald Ramotar who held and continued to hold the PPP together.
I do not see Donald anything less than Moses in political and ideological development and strength. Donald also has a degree at U.G.
Both Donald and Moses as the PPP’s presidential candidates can bring home to the PPP a resounding and overwhelming victory in the 2011 general elections.
But why did I give Moses the edge over Donald and the others whom I mentioned in my letter in the Monday Kaieteur News 2008.07.28 and captioned “Guyana needs a special candidate for president”? The reasons are as follows:
1. Moses has the kind of charisma a president would need to bring the Opposition, PPP and government forces to work together for the development of Guyana.
2. Moses is loved by all Guyanese for his discipline, principles and struggles for Guyana’s freedom and democracy.
3. Moses is clean, truthful, merciful and charitable.
4. In the political opposition arena, Moses is one of the most respected PPP leaders without any doubt and would be more trusted by the Opposition than anyone else.
5. Moses would lead a lean and clean government and work towards the stamping out of corruption.
6. Doses of quinine administered to cure the ailing political situation will be more acceptable from Moses Nagamootoo than any other PPP president.
7. Moses Nagamootoo is a dreamer, a visionary and a thinker like Dr. Cheddi Jagan.
8. The working class, the farmer, the progressive business community, the progressive intelligentsia and even Frederick Kissoon need a presidential candidate like Moses Nagamootoo for the 2011 general elections.
