DEAR EDITOR,
The Environmental Community Health Organisation is extremely pleased with the efforts of His Excellency, President Bharrat Jagdeo, and other Government officials to flag-up awareness of the consequential implications of climate change on our national and global communities.
It is the single most worrying challenge facing the entire planet, upon which we all depend for our survival.
The organisation has noticed that the President seeks to raise the issue of climate change and the environment at every forum, whether in or beyond the boundaries of Guyana.
This is good, because it demonstrates leadership on environmental issues. This is critical to the sustainable development of our economy.
The organisation hopes that corporate leaders and bosses would emulate this kind of leadership, and work with environmental social movements and other groups that are advocating for good environmental stewardship.
The Environmental Community Health Organisation hopes, too, that international agencies and other financial bodies would give quality support to such organisations.
This is fundamental, because the ecosphere is an inter-connected web. Therefore, all must be involved in the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change. Royston King
