Buxtonians must start questioning their political leaders

DEAR EDITOR,
The PNCR lost every election held from 1992 and ever since violence has reared its ugly head.
The violence continued and even got worse when the PNC lost the 2001 elections.
What followed was the jail break of five vicious criminals.

Those five escapees made Buxton the strong hold of PNCR their home base to plan and carry out killings with impunity.

Advocates for the PNCR called the five vicious criminals and their cohorts freedom fighters.
Buxton was then deemed a safe haven for criminals by Government, security forces and the majority of Guyanese.

PNCR leaders went into Buxton and declared Buxton is no safe haven for criminals and there are no criminals living in Buxton.

PNCR leaders declare that it is Government and security forces that are criminalizing and demonizing the good people of Buxton.

Today we are witnessing the unraveling of criminal elements in Buxton.
One Buxton mother declared that her son “lived by the sword so he died by the sword” when killed in confrontation with security forces.

Another mother said her son followed bad company and even stole her money and ran away from home.
One mother even admitted that her son said he will kill.
Yet not one of these mothers ever reported their sons missing or what their sons said.

Now is the time for the mothers and family members of Buxton to start questioning their political leaders.
The good people of Buxton must now demand an explanation from PNCR leaders why their children turned to drugs and a life of crime.

All the mothers, fathers and family members must tell security forces what they know before it is too late for their sons who are in criminal gangs.

If not more family members will be going to the funeral parlours to identify their sons.
And for what?

All because you were so badly misled by your political leaders whom you give your full support and votes.
They tell you to blame Government and security forces and you believe them.

Now is the time to tell your political leaders enough is enough and you will not take it any more.
I appeal to mothers/fathers and family members to report your children missing when they are.

Come on people you are all smarter than that to not look around you and see what is happening. There are many more villages with more young men in the very position your sons are in but yet they don’t turn to drugs, gangs and a life of crime.

Since your leaders asked you for your support and your votes, now it’s your turn to ask your leaders whom you supported and voted for, what have they done for you lately?

Your sons coming home in body bags could be stopped but only by you asking your political leaders the tough hard questions.

Mothers, fathers and family members must be reminded that the choice is yours and yours only.
Do no allow yourself and your children to see life through the eyes of politicians for they will do and say anything to gain power.
