2008 Int’l Olympic Day Walk/Runs set for today
The Guyana Olympic Association will stage the annual International Olympic Day Run/Walk which this year would be held once again in two (2) categories today.
The two categories are Fun Run/Walk; which will be a traditional Fun Run/Walk would commence outside the Thomas Lands YMCA at 06:00hours to turn back at Turkeyen. Entry is free. All participants who complete the course would receive an IOC certificate.
While, Category 2 – 10km Team Run, will use the same course as the Fun Run and start at 06:30hours. Teams must consist of three (3) Females and three (3) Males all of whom must complete the course. The winning teams would be those with the lowest aggregate of time of all its finishers.
The top three finishers will receive respective prizes of $48,000, $36,000 and $24,000.
All participants in this category will also receive an IOC certificate and T-shirt.
Minister of Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh has been invited to start the two runs.
