Dear Editor,
Yet another gruesome death!
When will this country get the crime situation under control?
Every day the newspapers’ front pages are graced with murder — execution or road carnage. There’s got to be a way to combat and get these killings under control.
Guyanese are dying at a faster rate now, in line with other neighbouring Caribbean countries. The hostage killing in Guyana is making headlines. I want to open the newspapers and read of something positive — about people that are making changes for the development of this land.
News out of Guyana reveals that this is a very violent and depressed country.
With all the development taking place in Guyana, the violence overshadows any prosperity that is prevalent.
It’s extremely sad to witness so much violence. When will this get under control? How is the Government going to alleviate and get crime under control?
Rumours are that most of these killings are drug related. What action is being taken to get the drug dealers under control? Why are there so many guns available in Guyana?
These are questions Guyanese are asking!
Political parties must put all differences aside and work together to improve the image of this country, which is tarnishing rapidly.
The citizens of this country deserve to live peacefully, it’s their democratic right to have a Government that can bring prosperity and peace in their daily lives.
The corruption must stop. Too much name blaming is taking place in Guyana, and some are made publicly while the majority is hidden.
All political party leaders must work together for the interest of all to move this country ahead. The majority of the population does not have a voice, or access of being heard.
The violent situation is escalating, while our politicians are engaged in personal attacks. The population is feeling the effects.
The elected politicians are just in office for their own political gains and motives, while the population is feeling marginalised and helpless.
How will this nation move ahead? When will our leaders get the crime situation under control? The biggest fear of Guyanese is surprisingly not the rising cost of living, but crime. An issue the Government is losing the battle on.
People are afraid to live in this country. Fear is being manipulated in everyone’s mind.
