(Kaieteur News) – A 46-year-old Police Inspector attached to the Tactical Services Unit is now under close arrest after he allegedly discharged a loaded firearm at a 48-year-old minibus driver on Friday afternoon at Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
According to a police report, Police in Regional Division 4 ‘C’ and the Office of Professional Responsibility are investigating the alleged offence, which occurred at about 15:15hrs along the Buxton Railway Embankment.
The police reported that the 48-year-old bus driver was driving along the Buxton Railway Embankment when an encounter occurred between him and the Police Inspector, who was driving a motor car.
Reports are that an argument subsequently ensued between the two men, during which the Police Inspector reportedly discharged several rounds from his service firearm towards the minibus driver.
The injured man was subsequently taken to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor and admitted as a patient with suspected gunshot injuries to his chest and left leg. Police said his condition was listed as serious but stable.
“The Police Inspector subsequently reported the matter to the Police and handed over his service firearm, a 9mm Glock 19 pistol, along with 13 live rounds of ammunition. The firearm and ammunition were lodged pending examination,” the police reported.
Further, the report stated that a third motor vehicle which was in the vicinity at the time was also reportedly struck during the incident. That vehicle, along with the vehicles driven by the two men, was examined as part of the investigation. The Police Inspector was placed under close arrest and is assisting with the investigation.
As the investigation continues, the police said CCTV cameras were identified in the area, and efforts are being made to obtain the relevant footage.

46 y.o. Tactical Police Inspector shown with gun in hand, discharged shots
at civilians in cars ?
This man is a poor excuse as a human being. He is a WIMP, without his service
weapon. Has already exhibited his “dangerous side” using his gun. That makes
him, A DANGER TO SOCIETY.
NOTHING TO INVESTIGATE HERE. HE MUST BE FIRED PROMPTLY.
