Spectrum rooftop launches monthly chef takeover series
…offering Guyanese culinary entrepreneurs, a stage without the overhead expense
(Kaieteur News) – In a bold move set to shake up the local culinary and nightlife scene, Spectrum Entertainment Capital has officially launched its Monthly Chef Takeover Series. The first started on August 13, 2026.
Designed as a low-risk, high-reward launching pad for Guyanese culinary entrepreneurs, the initiative offers local cooks, pop-up operators, and emerging chefs a premium venue to showcase their talents without the crushing overhead of running a traditional brick-and-mortar restaurant.

Spearheaded by event strategist and lead organiser, Ashra Lu Khan, the programme opens the doors of the popular Spectrum rooftop kitchen and venue for exclusive, high-energy dining pop-ups.
“We are ready to open our doors and bring new life to West Bank Demerara,” Khan shared during the announcement. “This platform gives local food creators the stage, infrastructure, and audience they need to turn their vision into a sensation without the daunting capital burden of opening a traditional restaurant.”
For many up-and-coming cooks across Guyana, securing space, staff, and equipment poses the biggest hurdle to scaling a food business. Spectrum’s takeover model removes those barriers entirely.
Under the innovative financial structure, participating chefs retain 100% of their food sales during their featured takeover night, paying only a minimal flat kitchen fee. In return, Spectrum provides a complete plug-and-play operational package:

- Turnkey Support: Dedicated bar staff, ambient sound and lighting setup, and an established nightlife crowd.
