Fire destroys upper floor of South Road building

(Kaieteur News) – Members of the Guyana Fire Service (GFS) on Monday successfully contained a fire that engulfed the upper floor of a two-storey wooden and concrete building on South Road, Georgetown.
Firefighters responded to reports of the blaze at approximately 09:15 hrs at a building housing Special Auto, an auto sales and spares dealership, on the ground floor, while the upper floor served as a private residence.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the upper floor fully engulfed in flames, with nearby buildings under immediate threat. Through swift and coordinated firefighting operations, the blaze was successfully contained to the upper floor, preventing it from spreading to surrounding properties. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
