Kaieteur News- A motorcyclist was killed on Saturday after an alleged drunk driver knocked him off his bike along the Public Road at Reliance, Essequibo Coast, Region Two.

Dead is Satesh Persaud better known as Tony Persaud age 45, a construction worker of Lot 87 Reliance Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast.
Police said Persaud’s bike was struck by a car PAM 8929 around 13:30 hrs.
The car was impounded and a breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver. Reports are that 48 micrograms of alcohol was found in his breath-some 12 micrograms above the legal limit. The driver was arrested and remains in custody as investigations into the fatal accident continue.

According to investigators, preliminary inquiries and CCTV footage revealed that the car was speeding in a southern direction along the eastern side of the road at Reliance while Persaud was heading east, existing from an Access Road.
Reports are that he was attempting to ride across the Public Road when the car struck him.
The impact flung him off his motorcycle and he landed some 50 feet away.
He sustained head injuries and was picked up in an unconscious state by public spirited citizens and rushed to the Lima Regional Hospital where a doctor pronounced him dead on arrival.
