When completed, the fire station will be the third of its kind located in the Region. Previously, the Anna Regina Fire Station was the sole fire station on the Essequibo Coast, shouldering the full weight of the region’s emergency response needs. In July 2025, the former Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn and his team had commissioned a second facility, the $144 million Charity Fire Station.
The home affairs ministry reported that the new fire stations feature a waiting area, offices for the station officer and subordinate staff, an EMS office and storage room, IT and finance offices, a fire prevention officer’s office, conference and control rooms, and both senior and junior living quarters, to name a few.
Located in strategic areas to improve response time, enhance coordination, and ensure that firefighters can operate efficiently, the new fire stations form part of a broader national effort to modernise the Guyana Fire Service, strengthen preparedness, and support community resilience.
The ministry received a budgetary allocation of $52.1 billion this year, and out of that sum, $6.3 billion has been allocated for the Guyana Fire Service’s programme.
