Massy Guyana breaks ground on major Houston Hub development
…New facility to feature 190,000-square-foot distribution warehouse and expanded Massy Motors dealership
(Kaieteur News) – Massy Guyana on Thursday broke ground on the Massy Hub at Houston, an ambitious multi-facility development that will consolidate the company’s distribution, automotive sales, servicing, and support operations onto a single site.
Scheduled for completion in 2028, the centrepiece of the development is a 190,000-square-foot state-of-the-art warehouse that will serve as the flagship distribution centre for Massy Distribution Guyana. The facility will be equipped with 15 container receiving bays, 28 dispatch bays, temperature-controlled storage, modern office facilities, and warehouse automation technology — positioning the company to significantly strengthen Guyana’s supply chain infrastructure.

The automotive component of the Hub will include four vehicle showrooms, a 9,000-square-foot administration building, multiple service bays with capacity for heavy and industrial vehicles, a body shop, a dedicated parts warehouse and sales area, and a separate tyre, battery, and lubricant warehouse.
Troy Beharry, Chairman and Country Manager of Massy Guyana, said the Hub was designed to raise the bar across the board. “This investment will position Massy to meet future market demand while setting a new benchmark for warehousing, distribution and automotive service excellence in Guyana,” he said.
James McLetchie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Massy Group, framed the development as an expression of the company’s long-standing commitment to the country. “For Massy, Guyana is not a market we are entering; it is a country we have been proud to grow alongside for almost 60 years,” he said, adding that the investment would expand local capabilities, deliver training in advanced technologies, and create career opportunities for Guyanese professionals.
McLetchie also linked the development to broader national priorities, including food security. “We see this as part of the role we can play in supporting Guyana’s food security ambitions by building the capabilities, infrastructure and partnerships needed to move food more efficiently, reduce waste and strengthen the resilience of the agricultural value chain,” he said.
The ceremonial sod-turning was attended by government and corporate leadership, including Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation Deodat Indar; Chief Investment Officer and GO-Invest Agency Head Peter R. Ramsaroop; Massy Group Chairman Robert Riley; and senior executives from across the Massy Guyana portfolio.
