(Kaieteur News) – Every now and then, dem boys does see one post pon Facebook from somebody complaining about de service at de banks. If it ain’t de tellers moving slow, is de line too long. If it ain’t de line too long, is de air conditioning too cold. Some people does complain so much that if de bank start giving away money free, dem would complain that de notes too crisp.
But de complaint that does come up most often is de long lines inside de banks. Now dem boys ain’t saying de lines short. Dem lines long from before Independence. Some of dem lines got more history than certain villages.
Back in de old days, people never used to complain about de lines. People used to carry a newspaper, buy a snow cone, make a friend and wait dem turn. De biggest concern wasn’t de line inside de bank. De biggest concern was whether somebody would choke yuh and rob yuh when yuh come outside wid yuh money.
Nowadays people does spend half an hour in a bank line and then rush to Facebook to write a three-page report complete with recommendations and conclusions.
But when dem boys see people complaining about bank lines, dem boys does gat one simple question: Why yuh in a bank line in de first place?
Dem boys can’t remember when last dem actually went inside a bank. Dem boys does spend more time outside de bank than inside. De ATM and dem boys got a better relationship than some married couples.
Dem boys pension does go straight into de account. No line. No teller. No standing up behind somebody counting coins from 1997. When dem boys need money, is straight to de ATM.
Now, some people got different habits. Every few months dem does misplace dem bank card. One day it inside a Bible, next day it inside a passport, next day it hiding in a document file “for safekeeping.” Then dem got to visit de bank and join de same line dem complaining about.
As for dem boys, de only complaint is when people seh de ATM run out of cash. Funny enough, every time dem boys go, de machine got money waiting like it know dem coming.
So, if yuh tired of de bank line, maybe de solution ain’t complaining pon Facebook. Maybe de solution is staying out of de line altogether. Because one thing older than de banks themselves is people complaining about dem.
Talk half. Leff half.
