Father’s Day cycle road race slated for New Amsterdam

Kaieteur Sports – The Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC) of New Amsterdam will be staging a father’s day’s cycle road race around the town of New Amsterdam.

This is according to founder, President and coach of the FACC Randolph Roberts. He stated that the logistics are being worked out and full details will be released shortly.

Meanwhile, the veteran coach was recently presented with a new Samsung Galaxy cell phone by a former member and cyclist now turn businessman, Leone Cipriani. As a pre father day gift.

Cipriani, who owns the Fix It Electronic store in New Amsterdam was one of the top BMX riders in the club. He won many races in Berbice and the national park whilst donning the club colours. He is also a regular contributor to the club and is expected to be one of the sponsors of the father’s days race.

Roberts, who is one of the oldest cycling coaches in the county. Is being seen as a father figure by the many present and past cyclists that he coached.

Among those who came under the tutelage are – Neil Reece, Balram Narine, Juda Klass, Romello and Franco Crawford, Russel Allen, Peter Millington, Wasim Gaffor, Travis Cipriani, Gary Benjamin, Martin Persaud and the late Wilbert Benjamin among numerous others. (Samuel Whyte)
