(Kaieteur News) – A Special Constable is in custody for stabbing a 34-year-old porter several times at the Onderneeming Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast on Friday.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) in a statement said that an investigation has been launched into the incident.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that on the date and time mentioned, the victim was at a gathering at Onderneeming Sand Pit when an argument allegedly ensued between him and the suspect, which escalated into a physical altercation,” police said.
The suspect then allegedly armed himself with what was suspected to be a broken bottle, which he used to stab the victim before making good his escape. The injured porter was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
He was subsequently transferred to the Lima Regional Hospital, where he was admitted and remains as a patient in a stable condition.
