Held at the Frances & Co. boutique (24 J Duncan Street, Campbellville), the event drew a diverse group of women between the ages of 35 and 85, all eager to engage in meaningful dialogue on a topic often overlooked in public discourse.
More than just a social gathering, the event served as a celebration of womanhood, highlighting resilience, shared experiences, and the importance of informed health choices. Attendees were treated to a fashion showcase that highlighted the beauty and practicality of natural fabrics such as linen and cotton, demonstrating how comfort can seamlessly align with elegance and style.
The afternoon unfolded in a lively and welcoming atmosphere, featuring engaging conversations, music, curated refreshments, and opportunities for meaningful connection. Central to the event’s success was the expert guidance provided by two leading medical professionals. Dr. Natasha France, a respected Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, and Dr. Shivani Samlall, an Obstetrician-Gynaecologist, Gynecologic Oncologist, and founder of the Lotus Cancer Initiative Inc., delivered insightful presentations.
Their discussions covered key aspects of perimenopause and menopause, including symptom management and approaches to navigating this life stage with confidence and clarity. Founder of Frances & Co., Daneile Hicks-Burnett, underscored the deeper purpose behind the initiative. She noted that empowerment extends beyond fashion, emphasising the importance of creating spaces where women feel supported, informed, and connected.
The Jean Brusch Foundation, known for over a decade of advocacy and charitable work supporting women affected by breast cancer and other chronic illnesses in Guyana, played a pivotal role in fostering the event’s educational and community-driven focus. Organisers hailed the collaboration as a meaningful step toward building a stronger, more informed community of women.
With attendees expressing enthusiasm for future engagements, the success of “Hot Flashing Fashion and Conversation” signals a growing demand for open, supportive discussions around women’s health. Frances & Co. has encouraged the public to stay connected for upcoming initiatives through its social media platforms or by visiting the boutique.
