Elderly couple busted with raw gold at Ogle Airport

(Kaieteur News) – An elderly couple attempting to leave Guyana for Canada was intercepted at the airport on Tuesday morning after more than 15 ounces of suspected raw gold were discovered hidden in their carry-on luggage.
Police said that the bust was made around 07:20hrs during screening procedures. “Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspected raw gold was found in the carry-on luggage of a 62-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, both Guyanese/Canadian citizens, who were scheduled to depart Guyana on a flight to Toronto, Canada.”
The two passengers were detained by Customs officials for further processing after the matter was reported. The gold was weighed in the presence of the duo amounted to 15.521 ounces after it was secured. Investigations are ongoing
