Kaieteur News – Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman has adjourned the extradition proceedings involving Azruddin Mohamed and Nazar Mohamed to April 7, after being satisfied with medical confirmation that Azruddin has been diagnosed with dengue.
The court heard from Dr. Kawol Dalip, who stated that the examination was conducted at his lab and that he formally diagnosed Azruddin, recommending 12 days of rest.
However, the medical report came under scrutiny from prosecutor Glenn Hanoman, who questioned its authenticity. He raised concerns about the timing of the diagnosis and suggested the report may not belong to Azruddin, alleging it could have been issued to another patient. Hanoman also challenged the doctor’s credentials, noting that he is a gynecologist, and applied for a new blood test to be conducted at a different laboratory.
The defence strongly objected, arguing that the prosecutor lacks the medical expertise to challenge the doctor’s professional qualifications.
Following submissions from both sides, Magistrate Latchman adjourned the matter to April 7.
