Kaieteur Sports – Following a mild opening practice run, the Guyana Harpy Eagles will look to turn it up a notch and step up their pace with game 2 bowling off today at the Everest Ground.
The players wrapped up their first practice match this past Saturday, with pretty ordinary performances by the time the game was declared a draw.
Kemol Savory and Ushardeva Balgobin were the lone half-centurions, while spinners Richie Looknauth and Anthony Adams grabbed 3 wickets apiece to headline the list of top performers.

Guyana Harpy Eagles will look to turn it up a notch and step up their pace with game 2 of their practice series bowling off today at the Everest.
Today’s match should feature a bit more aggression and timely strokeplay from the batsmen who failed to apply themselves over the last three-day simulation; with no team getting close to the 200-run mark.
Bowling was better than the batting, with young prospects in Aryan Persaud, Romario Ramdheol, Nityanand Mathura being among those who had a nice outing in the first game.
West Indies U19 batsman Shamar Apple will also want to announce himself by the end of the three-game practice simulation; with all-rounder Thaddeus Lovell and pacer Micah Amsterdam also being among players who can make an impact by the end of the games.
Guyana’s talent pool has been growing nicely with a number of the younger prospects having a chance to prove their worth but will have their work cut out for them should they look to push the envelope for selection this season.
The senior bunch on the other hand should look to get a bit more out of this second game with preparation time winding down for the defending champions; who will need all of their pieces to be at optimum level by the time Regional 4-Day season bowls off.
This season’s competition will be tougher compared to the previous editions due to the revised, shortened version which will test players in different ways.
The new playing conditions should also make for a more competitive tournament, thus forcing teams to enter this year’s tournament with nothing less than top playing form should they seek to ruin a possible 4th consecutive title win for the reigning champs. (C. Ross)
