Kaieteur News – A 10-year-old child from a Primary School in Georgetown reportedly stole his father’s gun that was stored in their home, hid it in his school bag and went to school.
Kaieteur News understands that while at school, the lad was reportedly playing with the gun. His peers reported hearing a clicking sound coming from the child’s desk.
According to sources, the teacher was informed and a check of the area done. The gun was reportedly discovered under the child’s desk.
The Guyana Police Force was called in and ranks secured the weapon. During initial investigations it was revealed that the weapon is licensed and belongs to the child’s father, who according to Police sources said he noticed the weapon missing for a few days. The man reportedly told investigators that checks around his home for the weapon proved futile.
However, he made no report to the police indicating that the weapon was missing.
The matter is being investigated.
