(Kaieteur News) – A 42-year-old businessman of Shell Road, Kitty, Georgetown was on Sunday arrested after allegedly discharging a loaded firearm on two men at Robb Street, Bourda.
According to the police, acting on information received, ranks went to the Shell Road, Kitty residence where contact was made with the suspect. “A search was conducted on his person and one 9mm Taurus pistol along with two magazines and twenty rounds of 9mm ammunition were found. A precept and firearm licence under the name of a Transportation Service was also produced,” the police disclosed.
Reports are that the licence was examined and corresponded with the firearm found in the man’s possession; however, it was observed that it was not enforced for the year 2026. The police added that a search was also conducted at the premises, where a motor vehicle which was allegedly used in the incident was found parked in the yard. The businessman was arrested and taken to the Kitty Police Station, where the firearm and ammunition were lodged along with the motor vehicle.
Investigations are ongoing.
