(Kaieteur News) – A 34-year-old miner who had been on the run for nine months was arrested on Saturday in connection with the stabbing of his wife at her mother’s home last year.
Mahendra Rampersaud, called “Kacey,” of Mon Repos School Road, East Coast Demerara, was taken into custody on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
He had been the subject of a wanted bulletin in relation to an incident that occurred on May 16, 2025, at North Bladen Hall/Strathspey, East Coast Demerara, during which his wife, Felicia Ann Dharamjeet-Rampersaud, sustained injuries.
Reports indicate that on the day in question, Dharamjeet, a 30-year-old mother of two, was at her mother’s home in Bladen Hall, East Coast Demerara, when she was stabbed several times about her body by her husband. She was left incapacitated as a result of her injuries. The couple’s 11-year-old son was also injured during the attack. Police stated that acting on information received about 05:55hrs on Saturday, ranks from the Vigilance Police Station conducted an operation at Lusignan Grass Field, East Coast Demerara, where Rampersaud was apprehended.
He remains in police custody as investigations continue.
