(Kaieteur News) – A fire of unknown origin on Wednesday afternoon destroyed a section of a concrete storage bond owned by a Chinese national at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara.
The blaze reportedly began around 16:00hrs. Kaieteur News understands that the fire started in a zinc manufacturing area before spreading to a nearby snack packaging company operating within the compound.

A bond occupied by Chinese nationals at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, was destroyed by fire on Wednesday. Investigators are determining the cause of the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
Sources indicated that the bond extends from the front of the public road to the seawall; however, an estimated measurement of the property could not be provided.
This publication understands that the entire building was not destroyed, as the Guyana Fire Service responded to the scene before the flames could engulf the structure.
Up to press time, the Guyana Fire Service had not released additional details regarding the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
