(Kaieteur News) – Thirty-four-year-old Seon Hunte, of Albert Street, No.79 Village, Corentyne succumbed to injuries he sustained early Sunday morning, after his vehicle reportedly slammed into a utility pole on the No.74 Village Public Road, Corentyne.
The incident occurred around 5:00am while Hunte, a former police rank of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), was making his way to Georgetown.
Tishana Harrilall, Hunte’s reputed wife told Kaieteur News on Tuesday that she received a phone call from her sister on Sunday morning just after 05:00 hrs. enquiring about his whereabouts. Harrilall told her younger sibling that he did not return home.
“She told me that somebody called her from the hospital telling she that Seon ended up in an accident and he deh at the hospital,” Harrilall recalled.
She quickly rushed to the No.75 Village Regional Hospital, where she was directed to her partner who was positioned on a bed, breathing heavily and showing little to no movement.
Based on her assessment, Hunte did not bear any major abrasions about his body, but she related that his injuries included broken legs, a fractured skull, and broken ribs. Despite, these did not appear to her immediately as life-threatening. As such, his eventual death has left her badly shaken.
She told this publication that based on information, her reputed husband was intoxicated.
“I heard that he was high, he was drinking that night, and then he drive and he gone with a speed,” Harrilall said, while noting that Hunte was not known to be a reckless driver.
Their last interaction, she recounted, was on Saturday. The two lived together for over ten years, during which they produced one child. Hunte was self-employed.
“He is a very jovial person. He made a lot of friends…very humble, calm guy, always happy for everybody. He’s good in every way,” the grieving woman expressed.
