Kaieteur Sports – Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) demolished East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) by 10 wickets as part of Wednesday’s round; thus continuing their dominant run in this year’s U-15 Inter-Association competition.
Only middle-order batsman Ashton Collins who scored 17 tried to get going, as ECCB were flattened for 57 all out, with 17 of those coming courtesy of extras.
ECCB would lose their first 4 wickets for just 16 runs, as Khan, Craig and Jacobus feasted on the top-order batsmen.
Although Collins reached double figures, his lack of boundaries further aided in the team’s struggle to reach a defendable score, leaving Craig and Khan to wrap up the remaining batsmen with a bit of help from Johnson.
Seamers Jasani Craig (3-15) and Prosper Jacobus (2-6) were excellent, as support came from spinner Afraz Khan (3-3) and Mickel Johnson (2-2) who ensured Georgetown were never out of the game.
Opening batting sensation, Lomar Seecharran pummeled a pair of sixes and three fours to steady the chase with 38* off 33; while his partner Neerav Persaud (5*) played the ideal anchor role.
Seecharran, one of the leading scorers in the competition, wasted little time in carrying his team to 58-0 inside just 7 overs; racing into the 30’s as Georgetown will enter the next round filled with even more confidence.
