Kaieteur News – The We Invest in Nationhood party said that its Members of Parliament are prepared for this year’s budget debates, with Dr. Andre Lewis- Shadow Minister of Natural Resources set to kick things off in the National Assembly at 2pm today.

Dr. Andre Lewis – Shadow Minister of Natural Resources and Leader of the Opposition, Azruddin Mohamed
In a statement on Sunday WIN said” On Monday, February 2, 2026, the National Budget 2026 debates officially begin in the National Assembly, with Opposition Parliamentarians of We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) many of whom will be delivering their debut budget presentations. These debates take place against the backdrop of the People’s Progressive Party Government’s $1.558 trillion national budget, a budget unprecedented in size, yet one that falls markedly short of meeting the real and pressing needs of the Guyanese people.”
The party said Dr. Lewis will set the tone for rigorous, fact-based scrutiny of the Government’s priorities. “Throughout the afternoon and evening, the public can look forward to the following presentations:
According to WIN these debut interventions mark the start of what is expected to be the most watched national budget debates in Guyana’s history, as WIN Parliamentarians bring clarity, discipline, and a people-centered focus to the examination of the national budget. “We encourage all Guyanese at home and abroad to tune in and look out for these outstanding presentations from WIN Parliamentarians where accountability meets substance, and the people’s interests always come first.”
